Announcements:
Bikes for Books Reading Challenge: This will continue to run through April 18th. Don’t forget to turn in a ticket for every 100 minutes read.
Field Trip: We will be going on our first field trip to the Washington Arboretum in Seattle this Thursday, April 3rd (with Mrs. Beck/Heinz Class). Thank you for turning in all necessary information! **Please note that this is an outdoor field trip and students need to dress appropriately for the weather.
Snacks: We are in need of a few snacks for the classroom. Thank you!
Due tomorrow: March Reading Calendar & Topic 9 Math Packet
Learning This Week:
Language & Grammar: We will continue to talk about “describing” words (adjectives).
Spelling: Spelling pattern words this week have the “bossy r”. They are: star, shark, alarm, scar, and car
and our sight words are: great, where, help, through, and much.
Math: We will finish Topic 9, Comparing and Ordering Numbers to 100, and we will begin Topic 10, Adding
with Tens and Ones.
Writing: We will write an acrostic poem about“Spring”. Also, we will write about our read-aloud story.
Reading/Daily 5: Students will “read to self”, “read to someone”, “listen to read”, “word work” or“write” each morning.
Social Studies: We will begin Chapter 11, How Do Family Members Care for Each Other?
Homework:
Reading: Please read for 15-20 min. each night and record your child's minutes on their March Reading Calendar (also, record every 100 minutes on a “Bikes for Books Reading Challenge” ticket). April reading calendars will come home tomorrow.
Math: This week we will be finishing Topic 9. We will cover lesson 9-5 on Monday and then take our Topic 9 test on Tuesday. We will begin Topic 10 and cover lesson 10-1 this week. Please choose the corresponding page from Topic 10 to complete with your child. Please do not work ahead in your math packet over the break.
Write and Share: We will take a break from“Write and Share” this week.
Spelling: Please practice spelling words for 5 min. each night.
