Hello Families of Room 22,
Announcements:
St. Patrick’s Day: Don’t forget your green tomorrow!
Art/Spelling/Science Night: Please come and join us this Friday night from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and see what our wonderful SES students have been up to. There will be artwork on display, science projects to observe and also an exciting Spelling Bee Competition to watch.
Bikes for Books Reading Challenge: This will continue to run through April 18th. Don’t forget to turn in
a ticket for every 100 minutes read. I only have 1 turned in so far.
Class Photos: Class photos are this Wednesday afternoon. If you would like a class photo and have not filled out a form and sent money, please do so by this Tuesday, March 18th .
Field Trip: We will be going on our first field trip to the Washington Arboretum in Seattle on April 3rd (with Mrs. Beck/Heinz Class). Permission slip and a payment of $12.00 is due by Tuesday, March 25th. If your
son/daughter needs a school sack lunch on this day, we need that portion of the newsletter filled out and returned by this Tuesday, March 18th.
Write and Share: I chose the “Free” topic for this week because many students have been bringing items into the class they would like to share. Under normal circumstances, we just don’t have time to share “toys” and “treasures” during the day. This week I decided to give them an opportunity to do this.
Learning This Week:
Language & Grammar: We will continue to learn about pronouns.
Spelling: Spelling words this week have the pattern “ing”. They are: string, spring, bring, ring, and sing and our sight words are: after, things, our, just and name.
Math: We will finish Topic 15, Geometry.
Writing: We will write about St. Patrick’s Day, being “lucky” and the color green.
Reading/Daily 5: Students will “read to self”, “read to someone”, “listen to read”, “word work” or“write” each morning.
Social Studies: We will finish Chapter 10, What Do Families Need and Want?
