Hello Families of Room 22
Thank you to all of the parents who helped to make our Harvest Party a huge success. The students had a fun time! I do have a big brown bag full of leftover supplies (i.e. icing, sprinkles, etc.), if someone would like to pick it up.
Announcements:
"Helping Hands": This has been a big success. Two students are chosen daily to help out with various jobs around the classroom.
November Reading Calendar: This was sent home at the end of last week. Please let me know if you did not receive one.
P/T Conferences Newsletter: This will be coming home Monday evening. Please fill it out and return it to me by this Thursday, Nov. 7.
Class Party: Students have earned a party for their wonderful behavior. We will celebrate this Friday, Nov. 8th. Students have decided to wear PJ's as part of their party, so please send them to school in their pajamas!
Learning This Week:
Language & Grammar: We are learning that exciting sentences end with an exclamation mark.
Spelling: We are studying short vowel words that contain "th".
Math: We will continue Topic 3 this week: Recognizing Numbers on a Ten Frame.
Writing: Students are in the process of writing a "small moment" story. Many are finishing their sloppy copy and ready to begin "publishing".
Reading: We will learn about our "Listen to Reading" station.
Social Studies: We will begin Topic 4 this week, "Who Helps Us at School?" Also, we will discuss Veteran's Day and what is means.
Homework:
Reading: Please continue to read for 15-20 min. each night and record your child's minutes on their November Reading Calendar. Your child should have brought home their first take-home reader book last Friday, Nov. 1st. These readers will help children read "just right" books and can be used toward the
nightly reading minutes.
Math: This week we will cover lessons 3-2 through 3-5. A new math homework packet should have come home last Friday. Please choose one page per lesson that best meets the interest of your child.
Write and Share: I apologize, but I accidently chose a topic students have already written & shared about. I told them they can do it again for this week.
Spelling: We are focusing on words with "th". Please practice spelling words for 5 min. each night.
Important Dates:
Thank you for all of your help and support. Have a great week!
