Hello Families of Room 22,
Announcements:
Field Trip: We will be going to the Seattle Children’s Theatre on May 1st, for their production of Art Dog. Permission slip and a payment of $11.50 is due no later than Monday, April 28th. If your son/daughter needs a sack lunch, the kitchen staff at SES needs to know even earlier, by Thursday, April 24th.
Please note that I can only have 5 chaperones attend this field trip, so I will allocate those spots to
those that respond the soonest. Chaperones will also need to pay the field trip cost of $11.50.
Learning This Week:
Spelling: Spelling pattern words this week have “er”. They are: verb, herd, perch, term, and germ and our sight words are: old, any, same, tell, and boy.
Math: We will be finishing Topic 10, Adding with Tens and Ones, and we will begin Topic 11, Subtracting
With Tens and Ones.
Writing: We will be learning about "facts" and "opinions" and will start opinion writing (trying to convince others of our opinions).
Reading/Daily 5: Students will “read to self”, “read to someone”, “listen to read”, “word work” or“write” each
morning.
Science: We will continue our study of plants and also discuss and write about how we can help our
Earth.
Homework:
Reading: Please read for 15-20 min. each night and record your child's minutes on their April Reading
Calendar.
Math: This week we will cover lesson 10-6, take our Topic 10 Test, and then begin Topic 11.
We will cover lessons 11-1, 11-2. Please choose the corresponding page from Topic 10 and then Topic 11 to complete with your child. Topic 10 Math Packet is due this Tuesday, April 22nd.
Write and Share: Write and Share this week is “Science: Seeds”.
Spelling: Please practice spelling words for 5 min. each night.
