Hello Families of Room 22,
Announcements:
Field Trip: Our field trip to the Seattle Children’s Theatre is this week, Thursday, May 1st . Permission slip and a payment of $11.50 is due tomorrow, Monday, April 28th.
Mother’s Day Celebration: Please join us the morning of Thursday, May 8th, at 9:30am, for a small
Mother’s Day Celebration (approx. ½ hour). Students will have a gift to give, a song to sing, and we will enjoy a small snack. If you are unable to make it, please feel free to invite another family member to join your child (i.e. grandmother, aunt, etc.).
Class Party: Your students have been working so hard in class and listening so well that they have earned another class party! We will celebrate on Friday, May 9th. Activities for this day are to be determined.
Spelling: I gave the class a wrong spelling word this week. It should be “ask”, not “ant”. I marked “ant” right if they spelling it correctly on their pre-test, but please practice “ask” at home.
Learning This Week:
Spelling: Spelling pattern words this week have “ir”. They are: girl, dirt, first, bird, and chirp,
and our sight words are: follow, came, ask, show, and also.
Math: We will continue with Topic 11, Subtracting with Tens and Ones.
Writing: We will be learning about "facts" and "opinions" and will be starting opinion writing (trying to convince others of our opinions).
Reading/Daily 5: Students will “read to self”, “read to someone”, “listen to read”, “word work” or“write” each
morning.
Science/Socials: We will continue our study of plants and also work on our Mother’s Day projects.
Homework:
Reading: Please read for 15-20 min. each night and record your child's minutes on their April Reading
Calendar.
Math: This week we will cover lessons 11-3, 11-4, 11-5, and, time permitting (due to the field trip), 11-6. The math homework packet Topic 11 will be due next Monday, May 5th.
